CHRISTMAS RADIO!

Back when the local radio stations started going All Christmas in 2002 or 2003, I was amazed at this. I really enjoy Christmas music, but somehow that format has lost its way. You see, many of the radio stations are owned by conglomerates like Clear Channel Worldwide, Greater Media or CBS. And I've found that the same 150 to 200 songs are played ad nauseaum. I mean, hearing "I Want A Hippapotamus For Christmas" 3 times a day on one radio station and "Dominick The Donkey" 5 times on another can ruin your nerves. Thanks be to God for internet services like Live365 and Pandora, as well as channels such as The Christmas Radio Network and Christmas Vinyl. Because it's on these areas that you'll find the largest variety of Christmas music. And that includes songs that are no longer played on the radio, especially at Christmas. Nobody's heard Motovani's version of "The Skater's Waltz" in years, or "O Bambino" by the New Christy Minstrels since the beautiful music genre dried up in the 1970s and 1980s. I know that Bob Bittner still plays that kind of music on WJIB-AM 740 here in Boston, hearing Mariah Carey sing "All I Want For Christmas Is You" on WODS-FM every 4 to 6 hours can drive you nets! That's why I recommend everyone who has an internet connection at home or work(or on your cellphone, Ipod or tablet) to check out these Christmas channels, where you'll find a variety of great music that your local "Christmas" radio staiton won't play anymore. And in the week between Christmas and New Year's when the stations have gone back to their regular format, you'll be able to keep the spirit of the holiday going. Here are some of the links I suggest trying these next couple of weeks: http://www.SoundsOfChristmas.com http://www.christmasradionetwork.com http://www.accuholidays.com http://www.pandora.com Merry Christmas and Happy Listening to all!
